Supportive Services
Here To Support You Every Step Of The Way
At Beacon, we understand the importance of supportive services such as nutrition, rehabilitation and financial counseling. We have a registered dietitian onsite who provides nutritional counseling and dietary services, including education, meal planning and cooking classes. We have great contacts within the rehabilitation and physical therapy fields, as well as strong working relationships with various chiropractors, naturopaths and palliative care groups to ensure that we are achieving each patient's specific goals of care. Additionally, we strive to mitigate the financial burden that patients and their loved ones may experience in connection with cancer treatments and therapies by securing numerous grants, co-pay cards and other forms of assistance.

At Beacon, we believe in an integrative, whole-person approach to cancer care, which includes emphasizing the important role that diet and nutrition play in patients’ overall health. Every patient with a new cancer diagnosis is introduced to our registered dietitian, who is always willing to provide evidence-based nutritional information and make recommendations. We also screen our patient panel daily to determine whether any patients have experienced unintentional weight loss or a loss in appetite, which provides another opportunity to consult with our dietitian. Beacon has nutrient-rich supplements, cookbooks and other nutritional materials available in the clinic to patients who are struggling to maintain a balanced diet or achieve their nutrition goals due to their disease or related side effects
Beacon's providers always ensure that patients are receiving the highest level of evidence-based medical care. Beacon also understands the importance of integration and works closely with other physicians, chiropractors, naturopaths and palliative care groups in the area to develop a big-picture care plan tailored to each patient. This also includes collaboration with local rehabilitation and physical therapy groups to assist patients with regaining strength, physical functioning, quality of life and independence in activities of daily living. Additionally, Beacon incorporates various other means of therapy into our clinic, including the use of certified pet therapy dogs, as well as cold caps and scalp cooling systems.
Beacon understands that undergoing cancer treatments can create financial burdens for patients and their loved ones. With everything else patients are going through, we do our best to try to alleviate some of the financial stress and uncertainty. That is why we have a financial counselor onsite to provide patients with an overview of their insurance coverage, including their out-of-pocket responsibility, what they have met, and how much they have remaining. We also apply for grants, co-pay cards, and other forms of assistance for our patients, including coordination of lodging and transportation.
